4 Simple Ways to Hear God Clearly—Even When Life Feels Cluttered

Updated: Aug 25, 2025

Ever tried organizing your garage on a Saturday morning? 📦

I mean really organizing it—sweat dripping, hair in a messy bun, digging through half-labeled boxes and who-knows-what from 2006. Old soccer cleats. Tools and cords. A lamp you swore you’d fix. 🙃

It’s chaos—but somewhere in there, you know something valuable is buried.

That’s what it feels like trying to hear God clearly in the middle of your everyday life.

We’re not lacking desire—we’re just piled high with emotion, noise, old memories, responsibilities, doubts, pressure, and distractions.

And it can feel like way too much to sort through.

But here’s the good news: you’re not sorting alone.

He’s whispering truth while you cry. He’s bringing peace while you sleep.

He’s sorting with you—not waiting on the other side of your breakthrough.

And let’s be honest—it's not just about “cleaning up.” It’s about sifting through the mess, deciding what matters, tossing the junk, and finally seeing some breathing room again.

Whenever I finish clearing my garage, I sit back with a kombucha and just revel in it. That quiet, satisfying sense of order… of space… of finally seeing clearly?

That’s exactly what it feels like when you make space to hear God’s voice. 💥

Not just calm—but clarity. That “Ohhh… I know what to do now” kind of moment. That heaven-is-here feeling where the fog lifts and His nearness floods in. When divine peace and intuition slices through your overthinking, your emotions, your hurry—and you feel peace, purpose, and power collide.

But here’s the truth 👇🏽

God’s already speaking. You just need the space to catch it.

He’s not speaking in riddles—He’s speaking in relationship. And the more time you spend listening, the more familiar, comforting, and clear His voice becomes.

And when the dust starts to settle?

He’s the kind of Father who plops down next to you, cracks open a kombucha, and smiles wide—because He loves partnering with you. 💕

📖 Even Jesus modeled this. He often withdrew to lonely places to pray (Luke 5:16). He stepped away from the noise, the pressure, the crowds—because He knew clarity comes in the quiet.

And think about Elijah in 1 Kings 19. The fire, the wind, the earthquake—they all came with noise. But the voice of God? It came as a whisper. Right there in the cave… right there in what felt empty and hidden.

That’s the promise: when you make space, He speaks. Not with chaos, but with the clarity you’ve been craving.

Hearing God isn’t reserved for the spiritually elite—it’s a gift. A skill. A rhythm. And it’s available to you. Right here, right now.

📖 Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice…”John 10:27

Not “My experts.” Not “My perfectly planned ones.” Just My people. The ones who show up with hungry hearts and open ears.

So if your soul feels like a garage full of boxes—just know: clarity is coming. God’s already moving, organizing, healing, and helping you uncover what’s valuable.

You’re not crazy. You’re not too late. You’re just in the middle of the sift. And I promise, it's worth it!

So how do you get there?

Here are 4 simple ways to tune in, clear the clutter, and actually hear what He’s been saying all along:

🔥 1. Scripture Scribing

Don’t just read the Word—write a verse out slowly. Leave space and ask: “Jesus, what do You want to show me through this line?” Or read your name aloud within God's promises and declarations: "KANDI is the light of the world!" You’ll be shocked how a simple phrase turns into personal revelation. God’s Word is alive and wanting to talk back!

🪑 2. The Calm Zone

Pick a spot and claim it as your regular meeting place with God. Even if it’s 3 minutes, sit, breathe, and say: “Jesus, I’m here. What do you want me to know right now?” Don’t rush. Practice listening through the silence. Sometimes peace is the first prophetic word you’ll get.

And just know, getting distracted is SO NORMAL. So if you struggle, know you're not alone! Focusing on our invisible BFF takes practice. Just gently bring your mind back to Jesus. You can even imagine His kind face in front of you or His presence sitting beside you.

Here's a guided way to do that right now:

📝 3. Echo Journaling

God doesn’t only speak during “quiet time.” He speaks through podcasts, people, nature, experiences, books, dreams, even that random thought you had folding laundry. Start writing down those nudges. You’ll see the threads of divine communication weave your week together. And it will train you to become more aware of God speaking in everyday moments.

🌿 4. Parable Walks

Take a walk without your agenda. Ask God to show you something about your life through what you see. A bird building a nest. A branch that broke. A path that forks. 🌿 Jesus taught in parables all the time (and over 1/3 of the Bible uses metaphors!)—and He’s still doing it. His creation is full of clues, and the whole earth is echoing His voice. You’ll be amazed what He’ll highlight when you slow down enough to look and ask, “God, what are You saying to me through this?”

Bottom line—hearing God is less about being mystical and more about being available.

He's ready to meet you in your everyday moments... highs, lows, and all in between. And when you practice hearing His voice there? It changes everything!

You know what it’s like after cleaning your garage—you finally see the floor, the light cracks in, and suddenly there’s space to move again. That’s what happens in your spirit when you clear the clutter and tune in to God’s voice.

When you slow down to listen, you’re saying:“I trust that You speak. And I believe You’re speaking to me.”

And when you make space, He fills it with life and peace (Romans 8:6). ✨

AND... your trusted tribe is there to help you discern God's voice and nature. We need each other as we practice listening, so reach out!

This week, pick one tool above. Let the noise settle. Let the Spirit lead. And watch what happens when you stop reaching for control… and start listening for His whisper.

So if your soul feels like a garage stacked with boxes, don’t despise the sift. God’s in it with you. And the treasures buried under the mess? They’re going to shine.

You’ve got this. And you’re not alone!

Going deeper with Jesus, TOGETHER!
