How to Find Spiritual Rest When Life Feels Too Fast

Updated: Jul 22, 2025

I love a fast pace.

Give me a big challenge, high-stakes moment, or fire to put out, and I’m in my element. But I also love my early mornings—homemade creamer in my coffee, a peaceful sauna session, and a quiet gaze at my garden. 🌿☕️

I didn’t always know how much I needed the slow.

Ever lived a day on fast-forward? ⏩

Toddler's melting down. Keys are MIA. Email's exploding. Mad dash through the day. Scraping dinner together. Kids' homework hurricane. And by bedtime, you're stuffing stress and guilt under your pillow wondering if you did anything that mattered.

🌀 That’s the whirlwind. And the fast-forward button feels jammed. 🔄

We wear the chaos like a badge:

💬 "When life gives me a break, I’ll slow down."

💬 “When life slows down, I will.”

💬 "These bills don’t pay themselves."

💬 "The world doesn’t stop just because I do."

💬 "God can catch me on the go, right?"

And while your resilient grit is honestly glorious... deep down?

Your peace is waving a white flag, begging for the pause button. ⏸️

I’ve had to learn this the hard way:

Sometimes I don’t need more hustle. I need the guts to pause. 🚩

That’s what Jesus modeled.

Jesus literally had the world’s biggest to-do list—but never allowed "rush" to lead.

He heard the cries, felt the pressure, saw the needs. He understood the passion to make for impact and the details to keep things moving.

Yet He discerned:

  • when to keep working,

  • when to pull away,

  • when something was “good enough,”

  • and what He needed to refill.

He knew when to pause—and who to pause for—because He stayed anchored in the Father's lead.

Remember Jairus?

This man begged Jesus to come heal his dying daughter—urgently, desperately, probably frantically.

And Jesus? He stopped. Right there in the crowd. To heal someone else.

Imagine Jairus: “HELLO?! My daughter is dying!”

Ever felt like that? Your panic pushes you to move faster—desperate for Jesus to do the same.

But fear takes the wheel and drives you straight into a ditch... Where God’s voice gets buried under the mud.

But Jesus wasn’t ignoring Jairus. He was revealing something deeper:

"I only do what I see My Father doing." — John 5:19

Jesus didn’t surrender to the chaos around Him. He surrendered to the Father’s rhythm, choosing alignment over adrenaline.

In the end, Jairus got his miracle. God wasn’t late. He was intentional.

The pause isn’t slowing you down—it’s setting you up.

Sometimes it’s not a delay. It’s divine pacing.

And Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) reminds us:

"Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Waiting on God doesn’t waste your strength. It multiplies it.

In the slow, it's easier to see and grab hold of Jesus’s promises. You hear His voice. You get filled up and run from a peaceful and energized starting line.

I know you're holding a lot—showing up for everyone, juggling a million things. And it's absolutely stunning. You were born to influence this world with God's love and deeds.

But you were never meant to live winded. You were made to live led.

Even Jesus pulled away to rest. He’d leave the crowds, lean into the Father, and come back full of fire and clarity. 🔥

Your people don’t just need a productive you. They need the present, joy-filled, whole-hearted you. And so do you. 👑

Real-Life Reset Ideas 💡

(AKA: How We Actually Slow Down)

Even when life feels chaotic, spiritual rest is still possible—especially when you’re walking close with Him.

Here are a few real things our team actually does when we’re stretched thin and need to recharge.

Maybe one will speak to you too 👇🏼

✨ Eat slow, walk slow, maybe drive slow-er 😬

✨ Blast a worship playlist and dance like heaven’s watching

✨ Call a friend or send a voice memo

✨ Walk in the sunshine to clear your head

✨ Do one small task—then celebrate it 🎉

✨ Hide your phone like it's sabotaging your sanity (cause it might be)

✨ Jot 3 things you're grateful for

✨ Speak one kind word to yourself aloud

✨ Whisper “Jesus” at red lights, in the laundry room, or bathroom

✨ Take 10 quiet minutes with your Bible and journal

✨ Ask: "God, what are You doing right now—and how can I join You?"

Maybe what you need isn’t just a reset—but a real break.

What would it take to step away for longer? Ask God to show you the option you haven’t seen yet. Even in chaos, spiritual rest is possible as you’re walking with Him.

He cares for you more than lilies and sparrows. More than checklists and expectations. More than you even know how to care for yourself. ❤️

You’re not behind.

It’s time to pause, tune in, and receive the kind of rest that fuels real overflow.

Your peace is worth it!
