Oooo, does the word “trigger” make you tense up a little? Just me? 😅
First things first: Jesus cares about you in the middle of those moments.
You know, triggers—those little pokes that get right under your skin.
🦶 Stepping on a Lego in the dark
🚽 Reaching for toilet paper that isn't there
🚦 Catching every red light when you're already late
🎉 The relentless noise and needs of your kids
😒 That certain tone your partner uses that irks you
📪 Discovering you weren’t invited
🖨️ The printer jamming right when you're in a rush
Writing this list seriously reminds me of my first teen job working in a printshop—every printer jam over the years has felt like déjà vu. Except now, add rushing out the door. And kid chaos. And perimenopause. 😬😮💨
Sometimes, it feels like we're suited up in armor that’s entirely worn out or missing, right? 🤺
Like at any moment, you might just—poke, poke—fall apart?
Those moments when the slightest trigger doesn't just tap you on the shoulder—it bulldozes you. 🧱 Farewell, sense of peace and protection! ⛑️
💭 Then doubts rush in: “Where did my strength go? Can I handle this? Does what I do even matter?”
Every poke at your vulnerabilities might feel like a major attack, but it's really just a chink in your armor that needs a little TLC.
Your triggers aren’t just random frustrations. They’re invitations to transformation. And the best way to overcome triggers with Jesus is to lean into those moments, not run from them.
Here's the truth: You haven't lost your armor. These chinks are signs of the battles fought and the maintenance skipped. But they're spots ripe for healing and growth, ready to forge a stronger you. ⚔️
Many of us retreat to our metaphorical caves, like wounded adventurers seeking refuge. But often, we get stuck there, unsure of how to patch up and step back into the light.
Sound familiar? Unsure about how to process your losses, needs, and emotions?
Enter Jesus.
Jesus doesn’t always gallop in on a white horse to whisk us away from our struggles (though He totally could). More often, He joins us right there in the cave.
He’s not tapping His foot, waiting for you to figure it out. He’s already off His horse, sitting beside you, patiently waiting—never pushing. He's empathetic and ever present until you’re ready for His healing touch. He knows what you need before you even do.
Jesus is the One who mends armor, soothes wounds, reminds you of your royal calling, and strengthens His promises to you.
Here are three powerful truths about Jesus amidst your triggers:
1. Jesus is your healer ✨
He’s walking you through your struggles. Every oversized reaction is pointing to something deeper—unresolved pain, unmet needs, or fears. But instead of telling you to “just get over it” or "toughen up," He invites you into healing.
He offers rest, wisdom, companionship, and renewal. True strength isn’t about gritting your teeth and pushing through—it’s about a spirit restored and fully empowered by Him. He’s right there, tuned into every need. Your needs and desires matter to Him.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." – Matthew 11:28
2. Jesus is your coach 💪
He’s not here to do everything for you—He’s here to empower you. Like a great coach, He’s here to boost your confidence, equip you, and show you your strength.
He’s getting YOU in the game. It’s His delight to work with you and within you. He’s shifting you from victim to victorious, reminding you that with Him, you can handle anything. 🎯
When Jesus says, "You are the light of the world," it’s not a pep talk—it’s a declaration of what you’re capable of with Him! He believes in your strength and potential.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." – Philippians 4:13
3. Jesus is your partner 🤝
You’re not just rescued; you’re recruited. Jesus calls you a co-heir and co-laborer, someone entrusted with spiritual authority and Kingdom impact. God-with-us and Christ-in-me aren’t just poetic phrases—they’re packed with real, activating power. ⚡
Every YES you give Him shifts the atmosphere around you because His presence lives within you.
Here’s the key: Jesus doesn’t just open doors—He opens your eyes. Sometimes the breakthrough you’re waiting for isn’t out there—it’s already inside you. His Spirit unlocks strategies, strength, and solutions you didn’t even realize were there.
Say it with me:
God’s rescue sometimes brings breakthrough for you—but His bigger plan is to release breakthrough through you—especially in the battleground of your own mind.
So before you say, "I’ve tried everything!", ask—have I fully tried His way? What else does He want me to know? What ideas and options might He be inspiring me towards?
With Him, there’s a divine rhythm of waiting and walking. He’s teaching you to discern His way and to walk in your true identity—equipped, empowered, and unstoppable with the mind of Christ!
He's committed to supporting your compelling purpose. And He's got every strategy and resource at hand!
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." – Ephesians 2:10
So, if life’s little pokes are getting to you, remember: Your armor isn’t shattered—it’s just ready for fortification.
In those quiet moments, in your cave, you can find the deepest connection with Jesus. He reminds you of your strength, purpose, and immense worth.
With Him, no challenge is too big, no crack too small.
🛡️ It’s time to fix your armor and prevent future chinks.
Together with Jesus, you can face anything!
