Trusting God in Uncertainty: Where Is God's Will When Life Takes an Unexpected Turn?

Updated: Apr 29

Ever feel like you're navigating God's will with a GPS that just keeps recalculating, leaving you wondering which way to go next?

🙋🏼‍♀️ Right. there. withyou. Life’s twists can get confusing REAL quick.

Here's a time when I learned more about trusting God in uncertainty:

When my family of four returned from a two-week trip to find our home and all our belongings ruined by mold, life’s rerouting wheel spun for us. 🍭

The very next day, we found out we were pregnant. Surprise! 🎡 🙃

As we hauled most of our belongings to the dump, God was already lining up provision:

🫱🏽 a furnished beachfront condo for two months, free from a generous church family

🫱🏽 an upgraded rental at below-market cost from a realtor friend

🫱🏽 friends showing up with meals, support, and essentials

And somehow, the kids, jobs, and ministry all stayed afloat.

What could have been devastation turned into a wild, faith-filled season of provision and radical generosity. 🙌🏼

Each day, Jesus gently pulled me out of anxiety and into wonder. 💥

That season taught me:

👉🏽 When life takes an unexpected turn... God’s will, care, and provisions aren't missing. They're just not always obvious at first.

And He’s not controlling every detail like a puppeteer.

But He is present. He is good. And He is constantly working to turn things toward your healing, your growth, and your good.

You may not have chosen what you’re walking through, but you are not alone in it.

And God is not passive. He is actively caring for you, providing for you, and leading you forward — even in the middle of what feels off.

Let me say this clearly, because it matters:

He is providing what you need.

He is not asking you to want less. He invites you to ask, and reassures that He always answers when you call.

I've learned to pause and ask:

Where are His provisions that He's hidden for me to find?

It may feel like your GPS is off, but God’s had the map all along.

Sometimes the detour is where the miracles are. And sometimes the reroute is what launches you into purpose. 🚀

Remember this: You're not just part of God’s plan — you ARE the plan.

❤️‍🔥 You are deeply precious to God.

❤️‍🔥 You are the reward He has chosen for Himself.

❤️‍🔥 Christ-in-you is how He brings heaven to earth.

Even the messy, unexpected shadows and shortcuts of your story—

He is working in them. Redeeming them. Turning them toward wholeness.

And with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead living in you — what actually gets the final say? 💪🏾

"We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose." — Romans 8:28

All things means all things.

  • Health challenges

  • Financial strain

  • Career confusion

  • Relationship breakdowns

  • Parenting chaos

None of it is too messy for God to work with. He’s not just helping you survive —He’s forming resilience and capacity and trust in you.

And we are here with you — praying bold prayers and believing for real breakthrough and miracles with you.

Because Jesus taught us to pray, “on earth as it is in heaven.”

And heaven holds all the healing, provision, belonging, and freedom we could ever ask for. That’s the standard.

My bestie Kandi and I have been prayer warrior partners for decades and we've literally seen thousands of supernatural miracles and breakthroughs, and I couldn't be more grateful.

And still…

We've walked through deep pain, too. Devastating loss. Setbacks. Betrayal. Moments that didn't make sense at the time.

I'm sure you have too. 💔

I don't have every answer, but I do know this:

❤️‍🩹 God is good. He doesn't cause the harm. And He bottles every tear.

❤️‍🩹 As I trust Him, even when I don't understand, my tears are worship unto Him.

❤️‍🩹 He meets me in them.

❤️‍🩹 He's always mindful of me and working for my good.

God’s will is always toward your healing and wholeness. And while He works miracles, He also uses the in-between — the delays, the questions, the unknowns — to deepen your faith, dissolve your fears, and grow something steady in you.

Rest assured, God's plan for you is good, pleasing, and prosperous (Jer 29:11).

So what do you do when life takes a turn you didn’t expect?

Here are a few anchors:

1. Ask For Sight 🧭 Ask Him to bring healing and breakthrough — and show you what He’s doing within it.

🙏🏼 “God, what are You doing here? Where are You already providing for me? What do you want me to know right now?”

2. Stay in His Word 📖

Let Scripture ground you daily when everything else feels unclear. Let His Word serve as a lamp to your feet in your real, everyday life.

3. Remember What He's Done ✨

Look back. Let His past faithfulness strengthen your present trust. Knowing His true nature, that He's good, eager, and willing, makes all the difference.

4. Don’t Do This Alone 🤝

Let people in. God often speaks through safe, trusted community.

It's good to ask for help and share your struggle. Opening up takes courage, but every time I’ve stepped out in vulnerability, I’ve experienced the punchiest breakthroughs, practical wisdom, and healing love from being known and seen.

If you're in a season of waiting, loss, or unknowns, know this: you’re not off track.

God’s will doesn’t fall apart when your plans do. Let Him unfold it as you walk closer with Him. Stay rooted knowing that you are still very much in the center of His heart.

If your life feels like it’s glitching a bit 😜, try this:

“Jesus, I trust You in the detour. Even when I don’t see it, I believe You’re guiding me. Help me stay open to what You’re doing in me.”

Keep showing up. Keep surrendering. Because breakthrough often hides in the "detour" — and the adventure of walking with God is never wasted. 🚗✨

You’re not just in His story. You are His strategy.

With you in the plot twists,

Kelsi
